The Pump is Not Working in My PetSafe® Drinkwell® Mini Fountain

Important Information

  • Never let the water level fall below 1 inch from the base of the bowl to avoid pump failure.
  • Take apart the pump and clean each time you disassemble and clean the fountain.
  • If you have “hard water” you may start to see white mineral deposits on or down inside the motor. This may eventually prevent the impeller from turning properly.

Disassemble the fountain and clean.

Scrub the pump and pump parts with soap and warm water. Clean inside the pump where the impeller is inserted with a small bristle brush or cotton swab. Use a 50/50 vinegar-water solution to remove hard water buildup.

Thoroughly rinse all parts with clean water to ensure there is no soap or vinegar residue remaining.

Reassemble the pump, then reassemble the fountain.

Replace the carbon filter. Rinse the new filter under warm water for 30 seconds before inserting into the filter housing.

Test the fountain. If the pump is still not working, you need to replace the pump.
