Troubleshooting a Flashing Red Light on the PetSafe® Basic Bark Control Collar
A flashing red light on the collar when the pet is not barking indicates a low battery. If the flashing red light is occurring after a new battery has been installed, please follow the steps in this article.
Verify the battery installed is a PetSafe® Brand RFA-67 battery. If you’re using a third-party battery, replace it with a genuine PetSafe® Brand battery. Visit our Local Retailer Lookup to find a local PetSafe® retailer.
Perform a battery drain. This is a hard reset to the system. For assistance with this process visit How to Perform a Battery Drain in My PetSafe® Basic Bark Control Collar.
For collars that need batteries often, ensure you are powering the collar off in between uses by loosening or removing the battery.
- When the unit is powered on continuously, the battery will last approximately 3-6 months.
The batteries will need to be replaced more frequently during the initial training period.
