Tracker Statuses, Base Sync and LTE - What Do They Mean? - PetSafe® GPS Cat Tracker?
With an active subscription, your PetSafe® GPS Cat Tracker will update your pet’s location and status in the My PetSafe® app.

- Live (LTE): The Tracker is being tracked via LTE GPS. See more information below.
- Base Sync: LTE tracking is paused and the Tracker is near the Charging Base. See more information below.
- Connecting: Status is updating. If it does not update within 2 minutes, visit Location Is Not Updating - PetSafe® GPS Cat Tracker.
- Idle: The Tracker has not moved for 10 minutes, usually indicating the cat is taking a nap or resting.
- Please note that if you test the Tracker while holding it, it may not register movement because it’s designed to detect a cat’s motion and may still show “Idle” in the app. To trigger movement detection, shake the collar vigorously.
- Offline: The Tracker is offline and needs to be reconnected. For more information, visit Location Is Not Updating - PetSafe® GPS Cat Tracker.
- Find My Pet: Tracker is in Find My Pet Mode. For more information, visit How To Use Find My Pet Mode on the PetSafe® GPS Cat Tracker.
How Does the Tracker Locate My Cat
Live (LTE)

If your Tracker is not in Bluetooth range of the Charging Base, it will use local cellular networks to update its GPS location in the My PetSafe® app.
Base Sync

When your Tracker is within Bluetooth range of the Charging Base, it automatically switches to Base Sync mode. This saves battery by pausing GPS tracking. This is why it is very important to keep your Charging Base plugged in and connected.
On the map, the pet’s icon “docks” where you selected your Wi-Fi is located, indicating it is in Base Sync. On your pet’s card, you’ll see the name you gave your Base Sync, along with how long your Tracker has been at this location. Additionally, there may be a small house icon over the pet’s icon.
When the Tracker leaves Bluetooth range, it exits Base Sync, and LTE GPS tracking resumes. If the Charging Base loses power or Wi-Fi, the Tracker switches back to LTE tracking.
Please note these modes are only available with an active subscription.
