My PetSafe® ScoopFree® Clumping Self-Cleaning Litter Box Has a Blinking Blue and Red Light
Press the manual rake button after each step to see if the issue has been resolved.
Unplug the litter box for 30 seconds and plug it back in.
Lift the litter box on its end and press the manual rake button. If the rake engages in this position, put the box back down and move to the next step. If the rake does not engage, spray the rake tracks with canned air to remove any litter that may be caught inside, then put the box back down.
Check that the litter is not piled up by the sensors and is level between the minimum and maximum lines.
Clean all six sensors(three on each side) with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab even if the sensors appear clean. A film can develop over the sensors causing the litter box to react as if there is something inside the litter box.
If the issue remains unresolved, proceed to the next troubleshooting section.
The Rake Is Stuck in the Home Position
Open the rake covers.
Release the rake by rotating the left and right thumb screws one-quarter turn.
Lift the rake straight up and out of the litter box frame.
Clear any obstructions inside the box and wipe off any litter clumps from the rake.
Make sure to reinstall the rake correctly and lock it into place. The horizontal bar on the rake should face the back of the box when being inserted.
The Rake Is Stuck Outside of the Home Position
Flip the rake forward and press the manual rake button to prompt the rake to return to the home position.
If the rake does not move back to the home position, skip to step 7.
If you cannot remove the rake because it is still stuck out of the home position, put a slight amount of pressure on the rake to see if it has disengaged from the track. If so, you may need to remove the rake from the bottom of the litter box. To do this:
- Lift the box from the litter tray.
- Gently pull the sides of the inside of the litter box until you can work the rake out of the box.
- Once removed, put the box back down over the litter tray and reinsert the rake with the horizontal bar facing the back of the box.
- Make sure to lock the rake into place.
