My PetSafe® Microchip Cat Door Will Not Unlock for My Cat

Important Information

Replace the batteries. For more information, visit our article How to Replace the Batteries in My PetSafe® Microchip Cat Door.

From time to time, the motion sensor in the inside of the tunnel may become covered with dirt or debris and may cause performance issues of the cat door. Wipe this area with a damp cloth as needed to ensure proper function.

Ensure your cat is far enough in the tunnel and not lingering. If the motion sensor detects your cat’s movement, but they are not close enough for the door to read their microchip, there can be a 10-second time out for scanning the chip.
