Day 1: Boundary Awareness

Set Up

Set the collar to level 1, beep only training mode.

Attach the leash to a second, non-metallic collar placed above the training collar on your pet.

Have toys and treats available for praise.

Plan for three sessions, each lasting 10-15 minutes.

If your pet shows signs of stress, increase the amount of play time in the pet area. Signs of stress can include ears tucked, tail down, cowering, pulling on the leash or stiffening.

Training

Walk your pet in the middle of the yardWalk your pet in the middle of the yard

Walk and praise your pet in the middle of the yard.

Walk your pet toward the boundary flags until collar beepsWalk your pet toward the boundary flags until collar beeps

Walk your pet toward the boundary flags until the collar begins to beep.

Allow the collar to beep for two seconds. Then, guide your pet back into the middle of the yard.

Give your pet praise and treats as you guide your pet back into the yard.

Continue these steps until your pet resists going into the boundary. Try to have your pet resist 3-4 flags by the end of each session.

Spend at least five minutes of play time within 10 feet of the boundary flags at the end of each training session.

Remove the training collar after each session.


Day 2: Introduce Static Correction

Walk to the boundary and watch for slight reactions to the correction, such as ears up or head turn.

Confirm that the collar is properly fitConfirm that the collar is properly fit

If there is no reaction to correction, confirm that the collar is properly fit.

If the collar is properly fit and there is still no reaction, increase the correction level by one.

Keep walking your dogKeep walking your dog

Remain at the same flag until the end of the session or until your pet resists going into the boundary zone.


Days 5-8: Distraction Phase

Present a minor distraction outside the boundary zone. Offer praise if your pet does not react to the distraction.

If you notice a reaction, allow your pet into the boundary zone to receive correction and then return to the pet area.

Repeat the process with other distractions, and gradually increase the distraction level.

Continue these steps until your pet resists going into the boundary. Try to have your pet resist 3-4 flags by the end of each session.

Spend at least five minutes of play time within 10 feet of the boundary flags at the end of each training session.

Remove the training collar after each session.


Days 9-14: Unleashed Supervision

Set Up

Have toys and treats available for praise.

Start with 15 minute sessions and gradually work your way up to an hour on these days.

Training

If your pet leaves the boundary, remove the training collar and bring your pet back into the yard.


Days 15-30: Pet Monitoring

Training

Only begin this step when your pet stays in the boundary. Repeat previous training steps until your pet stays in the boundary before beginning this step.

Remove every other flagRemove every other flag

Every four days, remove every other flag until all flags are removed.

Congratulations! Your training is now complete.
