PetSafe® Bark Collar Correction Types Explained: Progressive Correction

PetSafe® Brand static bark collars use one of two types of technology to detect and correct a pet’s bark. Your collar uses Progressive Correction technology.

It is important to note that bark collars will not completely eliminate your pet’s barking. Bark collars are designed to reduce nuisance barking.

Progressive Correction

When a bark collar uses Progressive Correction, the collar will start at a level 1. Each time the pet barks within 30 seconds of the previous bark, the collar will correct at the next highest level until the collar tops out at the highest level available.

After the pet remains quiet for 30 seconds, the collar will drop down to level 1. When the pet begins barking again, the collar will climb through the levels once more.

Safety Information

Regardless of which correction technology a bark collar uses, there will always be a safety shutoff feature. The trigger times may vary slightly from model to model, but they will all stop correcting when the correction is not effective.

As a standard example, if the pet barks more than 15 times in 30 seconds the collar will shut off for 3 minutes.
