My PetSafe® SmartDoor™ Connected Pet Door Does Not Have Power

Important Information

To save battery power, the Indicator Lights illuminate only when the pet door motion sensor is activated or when you change a setting.


If Using Batteries

Install Batteries

Check the battery power on either the door or the app.

  • On the door, the battery Indicator Light will blink red when the batteries are low.
  • On the app, the battery level can be viewed by selecting your door from the product list on the home page.

Replace batteries with 4 new alkaline C-Cell (medium size door) or D-Cell (large size door) batteries. Do not use lithium or rechargeable batteries.


If Using Power Adaptor

Insert Power Adaptor

Make sure the adaptor is firmly plugged in at the bottom of the door and in the wall outlet.

Use another item, like a lamp, to confirm the outlet is working properly. If the outlet is working, but the door remains powerless, replace the power adaptor. Replacements can be purchased through our website here.

If you are using a power adaptor, you can keep batteries in the door to act as a battery backup in the event of a power loss.
