My PetSafe® SMART DOG® Will Not Charge

The PetSafe® SMART DOG® Collar is rechargeable in approximately five hours. When the unit is placed on the charger, the collar will have a solid red light. Once the charge is complete, the collar will have a solid green light. The steps below will walk you through troubleshooting your system when there are no lights on the charger, or the light never indicates a full charge.

Before troubleshooting, remove the collar from your dog.

Inspect the charge port for damage or debris. 

  • If the two charging pins are bent or missing, please contact Customer Care for further assistance. 
  • If there is dirt or debris inside the charge port, rinse it clean under running water. These units are waterproof and submersible with or without the rubber mud flap in place. 

Try a different outlet. If you have another charger, you may also try a different charger.
