Place the old litter box next to the new litter box for at least a week. Timing will vary depending on your cat’s learning habits.

Add a few handfuls of the new crystal litter to the old litter box and a few handfuls of the old litter to the new litter box.

Stop cleaning the old litter box to make the new litter box more appealing to your cat.

Remove the old litter box when your cat consistently uses the new litter box for a couple of days.

If your cat is uncomfortable using the top entry hood or is startled by the automatic rake, here are some tips to help.

  • Keep the new litter box unplugged for the first week and scoop the waste manually.
  • Put your cat on top of the litter box to show where the entry is.
  • Place the top entry hood on the litter box only after your cat has consistently used the ScoopFree® litter box for a couple of days.
