Weather-Proof Your Pet Door Panel

Apply the Glass Sweep

The glass sweep forms a seal along the glass of the fixed door to improve energy efficiency. Close the door and ensure that the exposed edge of the sliding glass door is clean and dry.

Note: For some sliding glass door installations, additional glass sweep may be required to create the desired seal.

diagramdiagram

Place the glass sweep along the back edge of the sliding glass door. Position the adhesive to the outer edge of the door having the sweep brush against the fixed door.

diagramdiagram

Peel the backing off starting at the top and press in place while moving down the door. Ensure the sweep is lightly brushing the fixed door.

diagramdiagram

Trim any excess glass sweep with scissors.

Apply the Weather Stripping

The weather stripping creates a seal between the pet door panel and sliding glass door.

Open the sliding glass door and ensure that the inside edge of the sliding glass door is clean and dry.

Note: For some sliding glass door installations, additional weather stripping may be required to create the desired seal.

diagramdiagram

Position the weather stripping along the edge of sliding glass door.

diagramdiagram

Peel the back off starting at the top and press the stripping in place until you reach the bottom of the door.

diagramdiagram

How to Use the Closing Panel

The closing panel is designed to keep out inclement weather. It also prevents your pets from entering or exiting through the door.

To Close

diagramdiagram

Align the closing panel with the tracks on the pet door and push down to slide into place.

To Open

diagramdiagram

Lift on the tab on the front of the closing panel and pull up to open.

Install the Security Bar

The security bar fits between the sliding glass door and the door frame to prevent the sliding door from being opened.

Note: For sliding glass doors with the movable door on the outside track, contact our Customer Care Team for alternative locking options.

diagramdiagram

Snap the clip onto the security bar.

diagramdiagram

Hook the bar onto the bracket and hold in place.

diagramdiagram

Place the security bar at the desired height and remove the pin to extend the inner rod to the necessary length. There are eight different length settings.

diagramdiagram

Further adjust the length by rotating the threaded end of the security bar. Extend or retract the bar as needed for the exact fit on your sliding glass door.

diagramdiagram

Mark the sliding door frame to indicate where to mount the bracket and clip.

Mount the Clip and Bracket

Swing the bar up and over, then snap into the clip.

Optional Finishing Steps

Secure Height Adjuster

Securing the height adjuster will add permanence to the height of your door.

diagramdiagram

Drill a 7/64 inch hole through the height adjuster, 1/2 inch in from the open corner

diagramdiagram

Install a short pointed screw into the pre-drilled hole.

Adhere the Cover Strips

diagramdiagram

Peel off the adhesive backing and place the cover strip between the top and bottom panels on both sides of the door.
