How To Fit the PetSafe® Pawz Away® 2.0 Collar on My Dog
Avoid leaving the collar on your dog for more than 12 hours per day to prevent skin irritation. If you notice redness or irritation, discontinue use of the product until the skin is no longer irritated.
Ensure the collar is powered off, indicated by no light.
To power the collar off, press the power button for 5 seconds until the light is red and the collar tones, then release.
Make sure the Contact Points on the collar are the best length for your dog. If your dog has long or thick fur, or as a thicker coat comes in, it may be necessary to use the longer Contact Points that are included.
If you need long Contact Points, they can be purchased through our website here.

While your dog is standing, position the electronic portion of the collar centered directly under your dog’s chin.
If you have installed the long Contact Points and they are not reaching the skin, it may be necessary to trim (not shave) the fur around the Contact Points.

Tighten the strap so the collar remains in this position and is tight enough that you can fit only one finger between a Contact Point and your dog’s neck. For assistance with adjusting the collar strap, visit How To Adjust the Size of My PetSafe® Pawz Away® 2.0 Collar.

If your dog shakes or scratches at the collar, it should not move. Check this by gently attempting to shift the collar. Your dog’s skin should move with it. If the collar slides, it is too loose.

Trim the excess strap. Consider leaving some extra to allow for additional coat thickness in winter or if your dog is not fully grown. Once you have cut the strap, prevent it from unraveling by melting the end slightly with a lighter.
