How To Disassemble and Clean My PetSafe® Pagoda Ceramic Pet Fountain
Fountains should be thoroughly disassembled and cleaned once a month. Households with multiple pets or exceptionally slobbery pets will need to disassemble and clean their fountain more regularly (approximately every 2 weeks). Filters should be replaced monthly.
Cleaning the Fountain
Unplug the fountain.

Remove the tower from the center of the fountain.
Empty the remaining water from the fountain.

Remove the filter housing from the pump.

Remove the carbon filter from the filter housing and discard. If you are cleaning your fountain every two weeks, rinse and reuse the carbon filter. Discard and replace the filter every other cleaning.

Peel the rubber cap from the stem of the bowl.

Remove and set aside the pump, cord, and foam filter.
Clean the bowl and tower using a mild dish soap and warm water or place on the top shelf of the dishwasher.
If the bowl and tower are slimy, soak the components in a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water, then rewash the components with a mild dish soap.
Important: Do not use bleach or any other harsh chemicals.
Cleaning the Pump
Our Drinkwell® Fountain Cleaning Kit has a brush specially designed to clean inside the pump. The kit can be purchased through PetSafe.com.
Important: Do not use bleach or any other harsh chemicals.

Remove the blue face plate from the front of the pump.

Pull the small tab to remove the stator.

Remove the impeller by pulling up from underneath the white plastic. This piece is magnetic and will need gentle force to remove it.

Thoroughly clean inside the pump and all the pump pieces. Use a mild dish soap and warm water to clean. If there is mineral build-up or your pump has stopped working, soak the parts in a 50/50 water and white vinegar solution for at least 15 minutes before scrubbing. Refrain from using a cotton swab inside the pump.

Once clean, reassemble the impeller, stator, and face plate.
New Filters
Replace the carbon and foam filters once a month. Rinse the carbon filter under cold water until the water runs clear before installing the new filter.
The carbon is made from coconut shells and is completely harmless to your pet in the event any remaining dust makes it into the drinking water.
