How To Clean Your ScoopFree® Clumping Self-Cleaning Litter Box

Regular monthly cleaning can reduce odor and extend the life of your litter box.

Avoid using soaps, cleaners, or chemicals that have strong odors or contain scents that are cat-repellant, like citrus, lavender, peppermint, etc.

Unplug the power adapter from the wall outlet and disconnect it from the litter box.

Remove the waste bin. Then remove the waste bin cover by lifting it and sliding it forward out of the litter box frame.

Open the rake covers.

Release the rake by rotating the left and right thumb screws one-quarter turn.

Lift the rake straight up and out of the litter box frame.

Lift the front of the litter box frame and remove the litter tray. Lower the litter box frame back onto the floor.

Gripping the handles at the front and back of the litter tray, tip the used litter out of the litter tray and into a trash bag or trash can.

Wash the litter tray, waste bin, and waste bin cover by hand or in your dishwasher.

The rake is not dishwasher safe and should be hand-washed.

Clean the detection sensors on the interior sides of the litter box even if they appear clean. Waste can cause a film on the sensors and interfere with their detection abilities. Rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab work best for this.

Wipe all surfaces on the litter box frame with a cloth or sponge using mild soap and water. Wipe the rake with a sponge or soft brush.

DO NOT use any soaps or cleaners that would leave residue on the sensors. DO NOT use bleach or chemicals to clean as they can act as a repellent to your cat.

Thoroughly dry all parts before reassembling the litter box. Then fill it with fresh litter.
