How to Clean and Maintain My PetSafe® 4-Way Locking Big Cat Flap

Important Information

Examine your pet door once a month to ensure it continues to function properly.

Clean the pet door using a sponge or rag with mild soap and water.

Avoid using harsh cleaners and chemicals like bleach.

Ensure the flap is sealing properly. There should be no gaps on the sides between the flap and the frame or between the magnets.

Ensure no dirt or debris buildup is blocking the magnetic piece at the bottom of the flap or in the frame of the pet door that may prevent the flap from sealing properly. Wipe with a damp rag and clear any debris if necessary.

Make sure there is no dirt or debris buildup in either of the locking mechanisms. Clean out with a small brush and compressed air if necessary.

Inspect the flap for damage. If you do see any damage, the door will need to be replaced. Replacement cat door can be purchased through our website here.
