How Do I Decide Which Mode to Use on My YardMax® System

Mode A ChartMode A Chart

Mode A on the YardMax® In-Ground Fence™ is YardMax® mode. When using mode A, the pet can walk all the way up to the boundary wire. Once the wire is crossed the collar will receive a 2-second warning tone before delivering the static correction for up to 15 seconds or until the pet returns to the containment area. The collar will not correct the pet as they re-enter the containment area.

Mode A allows the maximum amount of yard space for your pet to explore. This is great for small yards. However, there are limitations when using YardMax® mode. Mode A can ONLY be used on a single-loop layout, without any exclusion areas wired into your layout. For further layout information, visit How To Plan a Layout for My Yardmax® System.

Mode B ChartMode B Chart

Mode B is Traditional mode. When using mode B, there is a 20% warning zone and an 80% correction zone on both sides of the wire. This setting can be used with a single or double-loop layout. Mode B can also be used when wiring exclusion areas into your layout. However, the correction zone on both sides of the wire means that the pet area will be made smaller for the pet.
