Happy Ride® Wicker Bicycle Basket Set Up

Welcome your new Happy Ride® Wicker Bicycle Basket!

Keep in Mind:

A harness will be needed to secure your pet in the bicycle basket.

Acclimation time is essential for your pet to successfully use the bicycle basket.

Designed for pets up to 13 pounds.


Preparation

Have the following contents available prior to set up:

Step 1: Assembly

Insert the fleece liner into the basket. Make sure to pull the metal ring at the bottom of the basket through the small hole in the liner.

Attach the safety tether to the metal ring.

Pull the liner over the top edge of the basket. Insert the four straps through the holes in the basket and liner. Fasten the straps to secure the liner.

Unscrew and separate the handlebar mounts.

Insert the arm of the wire bracket into the groove on the back of the left upper handlebar mount.

Rotate the upper mount until the arm of the wire bracket snaps firmly into the groove. A loud snap will be heard.

Repeat steps 5 and 6 with the upper right handlebar mount.

Unscrew the nut and bolt holding the front plate to the adjustable brace and remove the front plate.

Align the front plate with the front of the wire bracket.

Place the brace behind the wire bracket and reconnect it to the front plate by tightening the nut and bolt until resistance is felt.


Step 2: Install on Bike

Important: Avoid pinching or bending your bike’s brake cables.

Hang the bracket assembly on the handlebars. Make sure that the curved back portion of the adjustable brace is sitting firmly against your bicycle’s frame.

Align and reconnect the lower handlebar mounts to the upper handlebar mounts.

Note: Use the included long bolts if the short bolts do not fit your handlebars.

Slide the back pocket on the basket down onto the bracket assembly.

Check that the basket is level. Adjust the basket by extending the brace and moving it up or down on the bracket assembly until the basket is level.

Important: Once the basket is level, tighten all bolts and nuts until resistance is felt.

Fasten the safety straps to your handlebars.

Important: Always make sure that the safety straps are snug before placing your pet in the basket.

Place your pet in the basket and attach the safety tether to his harness. Adjust the tether so that your pet cannot jump out of the basket.

Note: Some pets may need help adjusting to riding in the basket.


Step 3: Optional Features

Sunshade

Unbuckle the four straps.

diagramdiagram

Place the metal frame inside the upper rim of the basket.

Buckle the four straps over the metal frame to secure the sunshade to the basket.
