Place the collar on your dog's neck. Check the fit by pulling lightly on the martingale loop and watching the two slide rings holding the loop:

  • If the slide rings move toward one another, but stop an inch apart, the collar is fit correctly. You are ready to move on to training. For more information, visit Training Your Dog With the Soft Point Training Collar.
  • If the slide rings move together easily, the collar is too loose.

To tighten the collar, remove any soft points near the slide buckle and then feed the strap through the slide buckle to shorten it.

To remove a soft point, unfold the flaps holding it to the collar strap.

After adjusting the strap length, replace as many removed soft points as you can next to the slide buckle and on the inner strap of the loop created by the slide buckle. It is important that you add as many soft points as possible to create even pressure all the way around your dog's neck.

Important: Do not add soft points to the martingale loop.
