Double Loop Layout with “Gates” or Passageways

Double Loop Layouts are needed when certain areas of the property do not need containment. This requires the wire to be double backed on itself so that it can still create one single loop back to the wall unit.

This layout is ideal when you are looking to contain all or some of your property, but also allow your pet access to areas outside of the boundary area. The highlighted graphic indicates where the pet is allowed to go.

To lay a double loop, you will lay the boundary around the perimeter of the area you want to contain. This will be the outer wire. Once you get to the end, you will step 3-5 feet inward and follow the same path back to the beginning to lay the inner wire.

As you approach the areas where your gates will be, twist the wire over itself about 10-12 twists per foot to cancel the signal in the area. Once you have reached the gate size desired, bring the wire back out 3-5 feet from the wire you’ve already laid.

Once you have completed the loop, you can splice in your twisted wire to plug into your wall unit.

Twisted wire allows the pet to cross over the wire without receiving a correction. It is needed to connect your wall unit to your boundary wire. The wire needs to have 10-12 twists per foot to adequately cancel the signal. Pre-twisted wire is recommended and can be purchased HERE. The wire can also be twisted manually or utilizing a drill as seen HERE.
